How do I use an OpenAthens account to access e-resources?

For Emeriti and other users without a Georgia Tech login, you can access e-resources by using our authentication service provider called OpenAthens with a "local" or "OpenAthens account." The local account option is provided in limited circumstances, such as emerit* status, affiliated researchers, and some others who do not have a GT login already. If you have an active GT login, these instructions are not for.

Please contact us at eresources@gatech.libanswers.com to find out if you are eligible.

To get started, visit: https://my.openathens.net/ and choose "Sign in with an OpenAthens account."

Enter your username and password provided to you by the Georgia Tech Library (this is not your GT login). Do not click on "Find your institution."

Once logged in, you will a list of all of the various packages we provide access to:

You can also search and browse the library catalog, including articles, ebook chapters, etc. at search.library.gatech.edu. As long as you have logged into OpenAthens as described above, this authentication should 'follow' you around as you access and read e-resources that we provide on the internet.

If you visit a resource linked from a catalog and it asks for a login, please visit my.openathens.net again and make sure you are still logged in. If you are still unable to access the resource, please visit https://library.gatech.edu/eresource-issue and fill out the form. Someone from the library will be in touch to help.
